Susan Davenport: Future at stake with Envision Alachua vote
Next week the Alachua County Commission will undertake a momentous vote on behalf of its residents regarding the future of our region. This vote is the county's decision whether or not to forward the Envision Alachua sector plan to the state of Florida for review and approval.
We encourage all residents to know the facts about Envision Alachua, in particular as they relate to several key issues and goals before our community. Passage of the plan would empower the region to increase opportunity by helping us narrow the income gap between east and west Alachua County, increase conservation, advance preeminence for the University of Florida and create new tax revenue for the county.
We call on the Alachua County County Commission to vote to transmit the Envision Alachua sector plan to the state of Florida for review.
