Letter to the Editor: Exerting control

In reference to the sales tax initiative being placed on the November ballot, Commissioner Mike Byerly is quoted as saying this is the county’s opportunity to purchase land for conservation before Alachua County is substantially built out. That’s a laugh as he was the driving force in thwarting the Weyerhaeuser/Plum Creek development on the east side of the county.

This tax is simply another way for the commission to gobble up and exert even more control over all land in this county. Vote no in November!
