Op-Ed by Chad and Alison Paris: Collaborative thinking
...the days of a relatively unknown Gainesville may be coming to an end. We attribute a lot of that to the collaboration going on around Gainesville.
In 2009, the Chamber of Commerce launched Innovation Gainesville to bring together business, the University of Florida and the community and solidify relationships between each. After all, you can't clearly tell your community's story and garner a world-class reputation if you aren't even talking to your neighbor. In June 2011, Plum Creek launched Envision Alachua to leverage the region's resources into a 50-year plan to elevate Alachua County's quality of life. While the debate is heated, the discussion will ultimately lead to a better product and community.
