There are two events taking place, right now, that have the potential to bring bountiful opportunities to our community: the widening of the Panama Canal and the migration of Baby Boomers to Florida.
Whether Alachua County opens up the eastern corridor for industrial development along the rail bed and create employment opportunity to the many unskilled workers or decides to wave the Baby Boomer migrants toward other counties, the waves of opportunity will be available for those who are open-minded and willing to invest into the future of our communities.
The question lies upon our county leadership: Are they progressive enough to create opportunities for the non-skilled labor force by investing in industrial programs, or will they wave the ship of opportunity on by?
