CEO woos companies, investors in Silicon Valley
A delegation of 18 people from local government, higher ed and business went on an economic development mission to Silicon Valley earlier this week to try to recruit businesses, meet with investors and get ideas for Gainesville’s tech community.
Todd Powell, of Plum Creek and chairman of the Chamber’s Council for Economic Outreach, said the main targets are companies that have a working relationship with UF professors and researchers. “The result we’ve had off of it is I think people have been blown away, even some of the folks we’ve met with in Silicon Valley, former Gators that are blown away with all that’s been going on in Gainesville.”
