Ora L. White: Balancing the economic scales in Alachua County
Am I looking through blinded eyes or are the scales of economic growth and development in Alachua County as unbalanced as I think they are? As I drive out along Archer Road, there is noticeable growth and development occurring. In addition, as I travel along Interstate 75, between the Newberry Road and Archer Road exits, I see noticeable growth and development occurring alongside the Interstate, namely, Celebration Pointe. ...The problem I do have is that I do not see the same type of growth and economic development occurring in East Gainesville and Eastern Alachua County.
… It is past time for the scales to become more balanced. The Envision Alachua plan has great potential to bring economic growth and development to East Gainesville and Eastern Alachua County, which is desperately needed in those areas.
